Double Tight Wrap

Get unitization, stability, protection, and product visibility.

EDL’s Double Tight Wrap systems are the industry’s gold standard in tight wrap technology

Double Tight Wrap systems use two perpendicular bands of LDPE film to tightly unitize and totally enclose a product or collation. Common applications include pet food and other gable-topped bagged products and cube-shaped products requiring total enclosure.

System Features

  • Multiple line layout options (“U” and “Z” layouts)
  • Double film coverage protects damage-prone corners and edges and allows cost-effective, lighter film gauges to be used.
  • Throughput up to 25 packs per minute
  • Engineered for flexibility and future upgrades
  • Commonly built with an easy to clean design for food/pet food environments
  • 15-40% reduction in film consumption vs. tradition total enclosure shrink packaging
  • 25-50% reduction in energy consumption vs. traditional shrink tunnels

Equipment Attributes

  • Heavy-duty welded tubular steel frame with powder coat finish
  • Two-roll film systems (single wound), 20” diameter capacity is common
  • Frequently use dual active film cradles
  • Pack-stabilizing clamps
  • Teflon-coated, constant-heat seal jaws with tight wrap technology
  • Category III safety switches
  • High-efficiency heat tunnel

Package Enclosure

  • Double tight wrap total enclosure (with minimal heat)
  • Double tight band only (no heat)

EDL’s Flight Bar Automatic systems are the best combination of product handling and throughput rates. Common applications include light weight products or small multi-packs which require substantial handling throughout the wrapping process.

System Features

  • Inline layout
  • Flighted product processing
  • Frequently integrated with an EDL collator for smaller products
  • Works well with supported and unsupported products
  • Uses less film than traditional shrink bundling
  • Throughput rates range from 10-25 packs per minute (product and enclosure dependent)

Equipment Attributes

  • Heavy duty welded tubular steel frame with powder coat finish
  • Two roll film system (single wound), 14” diameter capacity
  • Bottom-mounted, teflon-coated, constant-heat seal jaw
  • Pack stabilizing clamp

Forming Shoe Tight Wrap

Protect your product, keep its integrity, and withstand shipping and handling.

For unique applications where speed and efficiency are the top priority.

EDL’s Forming Shoe systems utilize a unique wrapping technique that produces a totally enclosed pack.  Product, typically a stacked, nested or tightly wound material, is driven through a shoe where film is fed around it until it is totally enclosed. Forming shoe systems can incorporate a shrink tunnel depending on the application.

System Features

  • Inline or side feed layouts available
  • Can be used with a printed film
  • Commonly used for food service consumables
  • Can offer reduced film consumption compared to other forms of total enclosure (application dependent)
  • Throughput rates range from 5-10 packs per minute (application dependent)

Equipment Attributes

  • Heavy-duty welded tubular steel frame with powder coat finish
  • Single-roll film system (center-folded), 20” diameter capacity is common
  • Teflon-coated, constant-heat seal jaw with tight wrap technology
  • Driven pack transfer pusher
  • Underside hot air lap sealer
  • Category III safety switches
  • High-efficiency shrink tunnel (optional)

Package Enclosure

  • Total enclosure (shrink)
  • Total enclosure (no shrink, “bagged”)

Inline/Continous Motion

EDL’s Continuous Motion Wrapper handles many supported and unsupported products.

Wrap random sized packs when using the same film width and enjoy optional automatic film splicing.

EDL’s Continuous Motion Inline Automatic systems are a faster, modified version of the base inline automatic system.  The servo controlled, continuous-motion seal jaw moves with the product during the seal process for increased line speeds. Designed to handle a wide range of applications, this system is capable of wrapping up to 35 packs per minute.

System Features

  • Inline layout
  • Can process small to large products (depending on weight)
  • Accommodates both unsupported single item packs or supported multi-item packs (corrugate pad or tray)
  • Throughput rates range from 15-35 packs per minute (application dependent)

Equipment Attributes

  • Heavy-duty welded tubular steel frame with powder coat finish
  • Two-roll film system (single wound), 14” diameter capacity
  • Teflon-coated, constant-heat seal jaw
  • Traveling seal jaw movement
  • Automatically adjusting conveyor belt length
  • Category III safety switches
  • High-efficiency shrink tunnel

Package Enclosure

  • Bull’s eye
  • Total natural enclosure
